The document could not be craeted. The required application may not be installed properly, or the template for this document library cannot be opened.
The error happens when I try to use a PowerPoint template file from SharePoint, POT.
Ideas very much appreciated.

this error appears to be related to windows update KB951944 which alters the way powerpoint behaves.
as soon as i removed this update, my template loads ok.
Running the office diagnostics seems to solve the problem
I removed 951944 and it fixed the problem also. Has anyone submitted this as a bug to Microsoft?
We asked for this issue to Microsoft and they said that is a known bug. They're working on it, but with low priority, so I don't know when they resolve this issue (maybe for SP3?)
