ItemAuditing - fine grained custom auditing for SharePoint 2007

SharePoint Portal Server 2007 (MOSS) ships with an information policy that enables audit trails of various events within SharePoint.

If you wish to develop your own auditing, you can use Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and the ItemAuditing example. First read the whitepaper and setup instructions - then download the code and try it out. This example is also part of SharePoint Enterprise Content Management (ECM) SDK.

I was wondering if you would be able to assist me in my custom audting solution. I'm trying to audit list items in a contact list. I've used the example you referenced and can fine tune it down to the list, but having trouble with the items. Thanks!

Hi Eric,
What are you trying to do and what issues do you have? Put it here and maybe I or others will provide input. It works for the items also for me - but had to modify it quite a bit to serve our purpose.

Hello

There is way to go around that check the version settings on your list and set it to major version then make sure that all pages or documents are checked in. Now you can approve them without problem.Normally, when you got minor and major versions, some stuff may go wrong and you got that famous error "Workflow fail to initiate".

Cheers
